SUMMER CAMP INFORMATION
REPORT IN PLACE AND TIME: All cadets
attending summer camp will report to, Building #8126 (Chinook Hall) on Doolittle Avenue aboard Elmendorf Air
Force Base (AFB). Official check in
time is on Sunday, 3 August at noon.
TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM CAMP:
Transportation to and from camp will be the responsibility of the cadet’s
parents. Should a cadet drive to
this event he/she will not be authorized to drive during camp unless expressly
authorized by an instructor on duty.
No cadet may leave the campsite unless checked out by the instructor.
Bus transportation will be provided to and from training sites during
camp.
VISITORS:
Parents and family members are welcome to visit in the evening after the
day’s training is completed.
Friends are discouraged from visiting since fraternization is prohibited.
Cadets violating camp rules will be sent home.
PLEASE BE AWARE that post regulations regarding visitors
may change before or during camp.
It may be advisable to call the Elmendorf AFB Visitors
Center at 552-5988 for
information regarding visitation.
A NEW VISITORS PASS WILL BE REQUIRED FOR EACH VISIT BY
PARENTS THAT DO NOT HAVE A VALID MILITARY STICKER.
If you can hold off then come on Friday 8 Aug to the Mud Run and family
picnic that is scheduled to follow.
The Mud Run will take place aboard Camp
Carroll
and the Picnic in the Barracks area aboard Elmendorf AFB.
MEDICAL TREATMENT:
Medical personnel will be available during all phases of training.
The signed standard release form will authorize minor treatment and will
authorize us to take you to the emergency room of the base medical facility if
required. If you become ill or
injured and cannot complete training, your parents will be notified and you will
have to leave camp, since we have no personnel to attend to you on bed rest.
If you bring prescribed medications to camp, you must turn them over to
your adult instructor who will give you the prescribed dosage as directed.
If you are asthmatic, you will keep your inhaler with you at all times.
If you are allergic to bee stings, you need to bring a bee sting kit and
keep it with you at all times.
MONEY:
Your camp fee includes all meals.
You will be responsible for your own money.
There are soda machines in our training area.
We may have the chance to sell sodas at cost from time to time.
Large bills will not be accepted.
Bring change and small bills in the event that we can sell sodas.
CLOTHING:
Bring enough clothing to last five days at camp.
Jeans or similar pants are recommended.
A long sleeved shirt for the jump tower is recommended and will help to
prevent rope burn. A swimming suit
will be required for swim day. Females
have found that an extra set of sweats is handy for sleeping.
. Cadets will receive a set
of sweats, T-shirt, and a ball cap upon arrival to camp.
Be prepared for weather changes!
DO NOT BRING CAMOUFLAGED CLOTHING TO CAMP.

PERSONAL ITEMS:
You must bring your own towel,
washcloth, toothbrush and paste, soap, shampoo, comb or brush, shaving
equipment, mosquito repellant and other items that you require.
Cameras are encouraged.
Radios or CD players are allowed but ONLY with headphones.
A sleeping bag and pillow will be necessary for each attending
cadet. There will be beds, with
mattresses, but no linen. There
may be lockers to store your gear.
NO KNIVES, WEAPONS, ALCOHOL, OR DRUGS ARE ALLOWED.
Remember, we are guests of the military and must abide by the base rules
and regulations that will be explained to you at camp.
Anchorage School District Rules also apply during this camp.
EQUIPMENT LOANED TO YOU:
You will be issued a canteen, canteen cover, canteen belt, and a poncho.
You must take care of these items and turn them in at the end of camp.
If you lose or damage them due to negligence, YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY
FOR THEM.
GROOMING
STANDARDS. The NJROTC
program is sponsored by the
Department of Defense and the US Navy.
Service-oriented grooming standards must be strictly complied with.
Conservative hairstyles for both males and females are highly
recommended. We
do not require males to get the
military "high and tight" however,
your hair (if you are male) will not touch the ears on either side and not hang
or fall below the eyebrows. Tapered
and neat is all that is required.
Bizarre haircuts and
styles, outlandish hair colors, nose
rings and or earrings are not authorized for
anyone during summer camp.
Discipline.
Insubordination will not be
tolerated. Each student is
expected to follow the rules of the camp and this program.
Your superiors will be identified well in advance.
Remember, gaining
respect is best achieved through giving
respect. Our aim at camp is to
acquaint you with the Junior ROTC program, teach teamwork, conduct leadership
training and have one heck of a good time.
This will happen by everyone starting off with a positive
"CAN-DO" attitude.
CHECK OUT TIME:
Parents must pick up their son/daughter at 1030, Saturday, August 09,
2008.
The checkout location for parents to pickup their son/daughter
will be the barracks where they were dropped off.
REMEMBER, if you don’t have a valid military sticker on your car, you get
a visitors pass. TO OBTAIN A VISITORS PASS YOU MUST HAVE A VALID DRIVERS
LICENSE, PROOF OF INSURANCE, AND VALID REGISTRATION FOR THE VEHICLE.
IF YOU HAVE A BASE STICKER, THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO YOU.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT GETTING A VISITORS PASS COULD TAKE SEVERAL MINUTES, PLANNING
FOR THIS POSSIBILITY WILL AVOID DELAYS IN PICKING UP YOUR CADET.
