Master Sergeant Dill aka "TOP" - Naval Science Instructor

Born on 11 December 1954 in Chester Pennsylvania, "Top" enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in January 1972. He attended recruit training at MCRD Parris Island South Carolina. Upon Graduation he attended Infantry Training School at Geiger, North Carolina. and was subsequently transferred Headquarters Company, headquarters Battalion Marine Corps Base , Camp Lejeune.

    In May 1973 he was reassigned to Alpha Company, headquarters Battalion, Headquarters Marine Corps as an administrative clerk for the National War College, followed by a tour at Marine Barracks, Republic of the Philippines and promoted to Sergeant and served as the Non Commissioned Officer in Charge of Maine Liaison, Passenger Transportation office at Clark AB. During this tour he participated in Operation New Life/New Arrivals and Operation Babylift, an evacuation of refugees. On returning to the states, he was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marines, 2nd Division and serves as the Administrative Chief for Echo, Hotel and Headquarters and Service Companies.

    Assigned to the Inspector-Instructor Staff in Syracuse, NY in December 1977, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant while serving as Personnel/Administrative Chief.

    Returning to Alpha Company, Headquarters Battalion, Headquarters Marine Corps, he served as Watch Supervisor for Plans, Policies and Operations Department and then as Administrative Chief for the Navy-Marine Corps Military Affiliate Radio Station ( MARS)

    In April 1983, He was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant and transferred to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, SC serving as the Administrative Chief for over 2 years. While assigned to Beaufort he attended the Advanced Personnel Administration Course at Camp Lejeune, NC.

    Returning to Independent Duty in August 1986, He served as the Personnel/Administrative Chief for the Inspector-Instructor Staff at Elmendorf AFB, Anchorage, AK.

    In August 1989, he returned to the Washington, DC area to serve as the Personnel/Administrative Chief, Senior Enlisted Advisor and Personnel Officer for Bravo Company, Headquarters Battalion, Henderson Hall. he was promoted to Master Sergeant in October 1989.

    Top Retired from active duty on 31 January 1992 and began teaching as the Naval Science Instructor in February 1992 at Chugiak High School, where he has remained.
